We spent Christmas at our timeshare in Park City with Martin Hardy family. I think that was the year we used a door as a table and had a wonderful Christmas turkey, cooking while we were on the slopes. It was a great trip and we enjoyed getting to know the cousins better. They live on the east coast.
Norma and Brian took us to Snowbird one day.
I liked my hair, I think Seta was cutting it at that time. And I really did love skiing though I was never very good--never could do a good parallel ski. The children all did very well. Richard needed to rest a lot at that high altitude.
Kathy wrote and said their trip back east took 48 hours!!! They had a nine-hour layover in Cheyenne because of a bad water pump 15 miles out of Cheyenne at 3 AM!! Jim hailed a truck, caught a ride into town and sent back a wrecker and a taxi. The temperature was O degrees.
(Note: The truckers used to be so great to help stranded motorists--I had the same kind of experience in college when stranded in Montana at night with a car problem.)
Kathy went on to say that they all had their sleeping bags to keep them warm while they waited for them to find a pump and re-install it--8 hours. She bought and read "How to Prosper During the Coming Bad Years" and decided to contact her Mormon neighbors for advice on storing food!
She stressed what happy memories they would have from the fun trip and she had made a collage of pictures to hang in their own Snowshoe condo next time they go up there.
The following Nonsense Christmas Card was sent out in 1979 to some of our friends.
